not losing faith, Trinity Sierra

This was originally posted on  @trinitysierra Instagram:

In my two years of #motherhood, I don’t think there has been a harder test than the test of not losing faith. In today’s world, we are facing the uncertain and for a mom that is terrifying. If I can be honest, I was faced with an ultimate challenge this week and the challenge is providing for my children to meet their needs.

When this virus broke out, we didn’t take it serious because it wasn’t affecting us but when it started to spread here, people went crazy. It wasn’t that I wasn’t prepared, I just couldn’t foresee what was coming.

My husband went to the store just to get weekly groceries and everything was gone. Eggs, cereal, canned goods, rice, meat and most importantly milk. You see, my #oneyearold was breastfed exclusively so all she knows is milk. We try to substitute with water and juice and she drinks it but not really. My first thought is what am I going to do because she needs her milk. As a mama, you take a lot of hits, but when it comes to your kids, it becomes extremely personal. So I went out even though the virus is going around because my child needs her milk. I found some at Publix but they limited me to only buying 2 half gallons. They wanted to limit customers because it’s a “high increase in demand.” When I said I have a daughter who needs milk and only drinks it, they said I’m so sorry but that was it. I get being fair because there are people who didn’t think about others and racked up on everything but now, I’m a mother who’s just trying to feed her newborn and one year old. So I guess I’ll have to keep going out and getting milk because it’s two for every one customer but what happens when the supply runs out? I guess I’ll tackle it when I get there because this is #realmotherhood. Facing every challenge as it comes. Sacrificing yourself for your child’s needs and not resting until they are met. Now more than ever, think about each other. We are all impacted by this. Don’t just stock up for you. Think about the mother’s, parents, elders, who need just as much as you. Put yourself in the shoes of a mother who cannot get what her baby needs.
